HotatePowder is a natural antimicrobial deodorant. Made using 100% escallop shell from Aomori Prefecture, it is both safe for human use and environmentally friendly.
Escallop shells have been said since ancient times to possess insecticidal properties. Utilizing our own special method of production (an intense heat cracking furnace), we heat treat these escallop shells at a high temperature of around 1,100°C. Once we have done this, we add water under special conditions to turn the shells into calcium hydroxide, which has a high degree of compatibility with materials. The result is HotatePowder, our natural antimicrobial deodorant.
With a strong alkalinity of ≈ 12.6-13.2pH, HotatePowder is highly effective at killing germs through sterilization, not to mention superlative deodorizing and antioxidation qualities.
In addition, although possessing a strong basicity, in physical safety tests is falls within the safety zone.
This chart presents the results of experiments on the antimicrobial properties ofHotatePowder. As you can see, HotatePowder is highly antimicrobial when it comes to such bacteria groups as Escherichia coli, Escherichia coli O-157, Staphylococcus aureus, salmonella, and Morganella morganii.
Bacteria specimen | Rate of reduction / antimicrobial activity value / total viable bacterial count | Test method | Report number |
---|---|---|---|
Escherichia coli | >99.9(%) | Shake flask method | CK-4822-1 |
Escherichia coli O-157 | >99.9(%) | Shake flask method | CK-4822-1 |
Staphylococcus aureus | >99.9(%) | Shake flask method | CK-4822-1 |
Salmonella | <1 total viable bacterial count | Halo test | CK-11-056760 |
Morganella morganii | >4.8 antimicrobial activity value | Application mutatis mutandis of JIS Z2801,5 | CK-12-037788-3 |

This chart presents the results of experiments on the deodorizing and gas removal capabilities of HotatePowder. HotatePowder exhibits superlative deodorizing capabilities mainly for those unpleasant odors that are noticeable in daily life.
Gas specimen | Rate of reduction (%) | Report number |
---|---|---|
Acetic acid gas (smell of sweat) | 98(%) | CK-10-043770 |
Isovaleric acid gas (foot and shoe odors) | ≧99(%) | CK-10-043770 |
Nonenal gas (responsible for distinctive body odor in older people) | ≧99(%) | CK-10-043770 |
Hydrogen sulfide gas (excrement) | ≧99(%) | CK-3670-1 |
Acetaldehyde (VOC) | 62(%) | CK-3670-1 |

Safety tests carried out by public institutions have confirmed the safety of HotatePowder.
We have acquired a manufacturing license for foods additives through shell calcium obtained by firing shells (calcium hydroxide), in this case natural escallop shells. The safety of HotatePowder has been guaranteed through a range of tests.
